Knights Run Into Hot Pioneer Squad

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 11th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| Knights softball took on the Lewis & Clark Pioneers in a Tuesday afternoon midweek matchup.

The double header ended in two Knights losses with final scores of 11-1 and 9-2. In game one, the Pioneers came out swinging which led to their win and in game two, did the same.

Game one
Game one was slow for the Knights as their only run came in the top of the third inning. Lewis & Clark scored three in the first, six, in the second, and two in the third which led to their win over the Knights. The Knights had one hit by catcher Megan Fritz who also had the Knights RBI for the day. Pitching wise, the Knights looked to Maddie Gamble to keep the Pioneers at bay later in the game as she came in for two innings, allowing two earned runs. The game was cut early after five innings due to the eight runs after five innings rule.

Game two
In game two, the Knights went up early but Lewis & Clark found a way to put up a big number in the first. The Pioneers were then held until the fifth inning where they found three more runs. The Knights were able to battle as they found another run in the third inning, but that was all of their scoring for the game. Offensively, Noe Barawis had two hits and a stolen base to lead the Knights. Four other Knights also added their name to the hit list with Kili Makanani and Skylar Groesbeck hitting for the Knights RBI's.

Next Up
The Knights will be at home this weekend against the University of Providence. All four games will take place at Milwaukie High School. Days and times for these games are yet to be determined. Stay tuned to the softball schedule on our website and social media for an announcement regarding that information.
