FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 27th, 2025
Portland, OR.| Warner Pacific University Volleyball fell just short this evening in a close battle when they took on Evergreen State College Volleyball losing in five sets
With the full team back in action, the Knights put up a fight against Evergreen, with sets going either way from start to finish with final scores being 21-25, 21-25, 10-25, 20-25, and 10-15. Evergreen got it started early, taking the first two sets, the Knights not making it easy and just falling short both sets by four points. The Knights were able to fight to keep the match going as they took the third and fourth set pushing the game to the fifth, which is only the second time the knights would do this this year. Unfortunately the fifth set didn't go the Knights way. WPU just made too many mistakes and Evergreen took the set and match to win their first game of the year.
Tayah-Anne Toa saw lots of action this evening and took advantage as she led the team in kills with 12 followed by
JahNay Jardine with eight. Helping the Knights out tonight was Pa'oakalani Payne-kaeo, providing lots of support this evening with 18 assists and 13 digs.
Angel Camagay played extremely well defensively with 24 digs. Camagay down the stretch was very clutch, digging a lot of balls late in the contest giving the Knights great chances to earn points on offense.
Next Up
In the record book, this game was a loss for the Knights, but this game was full of bright spots and resilience. Next week, the Knights will be in Caldwell, Idaho in their first match this year against The College of Idaho. They are set to face them at 5pm PT at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
