Portland, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Men's Basketball team came back home and opened up this week's slate of games against Southern Oregon University. In a close match, the Knights would lose 67-61.
Elijah Jackson and Gio Evanson had amazing evenings for the Raiders. Jackson led SOU with 19 points going 6-12 from the field with three threes. Evanson added 18 points and eight rebounds. Southern Oregon's first half three-point shooting was a major key to victory, shooting 50% from beyond the arc and taking advantage of free-throws going 18-22 at the line in the second half. It was a full team win for the Raiders as even the bench got going. Brady Rice came in and added 10 points and Jace Anderson shot in six points and gathered seven rebounds.
Warner Pacific kept this one close behind great play from
Jurrien Sparks who scored 13 points, followed by
Tyson Parker's 12.
Josh Lincoln and
Terrin Dickey each had nine points. The Knights shot well from the field overall but struggled at the free-throw line in the second half only going 8-14. The Knights went 11-17 from the stripe for the game. A big deciding moment in the game came with 16 seconds left in the game. The Knights had the ball with the score in favor of the Raiders 64-61.
Jurrien Sparks spoiled the opportunity to tie the game having a back court violation that all but ended the game.
Next Up
The road for the Knights doesn't get any easier as they will welcome 21st ranked Oregon Tech university to CC Perry Gymnasium on Saturday. The game will start at 5pm.
