Knights Fall in Tough Contest to the Owls

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 17th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Women's basketball took on Oregon Institute of Technology and the Owls came out hot beating the Knights 85-43.

Olivia Sprague led the way with 20 points going 9-14 shooting with six rebounds. Tatum Schmerbach contributed 12 points and Kendall Fealey added eight points of her own.The owls peaked with an impressive 73.3 shooting percentage in the third quarter. They controlled the game with effective rebounds and shooting to take the Knights down.

Warner Pacific struggled offensively, shooting just 18.2% in the third quarter and not getting any help at the line. Shielteal Watah led the Knights with nine points, with Matty Woolf following with eight points. Kiki Brooks was efficient off the bench with six points as well but the team couldn't sustain momentum against Oregon Tech's defensive pressure and efficient shooting.

"It was a tough game tonight," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "However, at the halfway point in conference play, we can look back and be proud of where we are at. Nothing is easy and I believe we will get back to the direction of focus on Monday. It's easy to be stuck on one or two results but how we respond and overcome this moment of adversity will define who we are as a team."
