Knights Lose in Caldwell

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 2nd, 2026

Caldwell, Idaho.| Warner Pacific Women's Basketball played their first contest of 2026 tonight and fought hard against The College of Idaho but fell by a final score of 85-63.

The Knights put together a very solid first quarter giving up only 20 points and scoring 18 of their own. KJ Custer had a dream start for herself going 5-5 from the field in the first quarter which included one shot from beyond the arc. Maggie Lapray also nailed a three in the quarter for her only three points of the contest. After the first quarter, the Yotes flexed their muscle especially on defense holding the Knights to just 20 points in the second and third quarters. The Yotes put the back end of their bench in the game in the fourth quarter which helped the Knights have their best quarter, scoring 25 points.

"The girls started strong in the first quarter," head coach Jimmy Smith said. "We struggled making some adjustments defensively in the second and third quarters but bounced back in the fourth with some much-needed energy."

Custer, after her big first quarter, didn't score the rest of the contest and finished with 11. Riley Layton had a solid game, scoring ten points, gathering six rebounds, and blocking one shot. Shielteal Watah led the way in scoring for the Knights, scoring a dozen in just 16 minutes of work. Watah also had three rebounds and two steals.
