Knights Falter At Corban

Box Score

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 24th, 2025

Salem, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Women's basketball took on Corban University on the road and were locked down losing 87-42.

The Knights struggled to generate any type of offense today. Kiki Brooks led Warner Pacific with ten points while Shielteal Watah continued to impress adding eight points and four rebounds. KJ Custer shot in six points and gathered five boards. Overall, the Knights were over matched by a great Warriors club led by the probable future CCC Player of the Year Jersey Huerta. The Knights finished the game at 26.2% percent shooting.

"Corban showed up sharp tonight," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "I thought we did a much better job taking care of the ball and limiting turnovers versus the press tonight compared to the first match up. Growth is a part of the process that takes time.

Corban exploded on offense today led by Jenna Albrecht paced the Warriors with a game-high 27 points going 7-10 on threes. Jersey Huerta followed with 18 points, while Tayla Yost and Tori Younker each had 11 points, combining scoring with strong rebounding efforts. Corban shot an impressive 58% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

Next Up
The Knights split the road trip this weekend which is nothing to be ashamed of as it is very hard to win two on the road in one weekend. Next they are set to face off against 17th ranked Eastern Oregon University this time at home. A chance to show off their skills against a worthy opponent. The game is set to take place at CC Perry Gymnasium with tip off at 5:30pm.
