Portland, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Woman's Basketball team took on eastern Oregon university and fell short 78-62.
Eastern Oregon was efficient early but truly took control in the third quarter, shooting a high 76.9% from the field. This game was led by Kali Kast who had a strong all-around performance, finishing with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Kelsie Siegner added 16 points and six rebounds. Eastern Oregon's balanced game plan and late shooting over 66% from the field in the fourth quarter was enough to take the Knights down.
Warner Pacific showed fight early, jumping out with a strong first quarter behind efficient shooting but struggled to keep that pace.
Skylar Groesbeck paced the Knights with 14 points, while
Maggie Lapray provided a strong night off the bench with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting including a fantastic fourth quarter spurt by her that had the whole building on fire. Despite a strong fourth quarter where Warner Pacific shot over 71%, Eastern had a big enough lead to take the win.
"I thought tonight showed major growth from this team," Jimmy Smith said. "As we hit the final stretch of the regular season, it is important for us to play our best basketball. Tonight, I thought that we showed that we have more improvements left in us. It's all about taking things one day at a time and really enjoying the process."
