Knights Fall in Games One and Two to 4th Ranked OIT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 13th, 2026
 
Klamath Falls, Ore.| Warner Pacific Softball played their first two games against fourth ranked Oregon Tech and fell in both games by final scores of 8-0 and 7-1.
 
Game One
The Knights in game one truly couldn't get anything going getting no hit and saved handing Owl's starting pitcher Kristine Schmidt a perfect game by walking three times. The individuals for the Knights that drew walks today was Noelani Barawis, Ryleah Torres, and Kili Makanani.
 
The Owls on the other side played great softball scoring eight runs on nine hits and only striking out once. The Owls were helped out by four errors by the Knights. Sawyer Stenson and Leah Huffman led the way for the Owls with two hits apiece. Addison Kachnik started the beat down for the Owls with a big fly home run to left field in the first inning plating three runs. The Owls walked the game off in the fifth inning scoring their eighth run winning the contest via mercy rule on a Brooklyn Loose single scoring Malia Mick from third.
 
Kili Makanani got the start and gave up just six hits but gave up seven runs in which six were earned in 3.2 innings of work.
 
Game Two
The Knights in game two fared a little better in the way that the game went the full seven innings and they were able to get themselves a run. The lone run for the Knights came in the second inning when Giselle Beriault came home due to a throwing error by the catcher making the score 2-1. Oregon Tech had seven runs on the day banging out 12 hits and didn't strike out a single time.
 
Kaylee Pokorny took the ball in the circle to start the game and went 5.2 innings giving up 11 hits, seven runs of which six were earned, giving up one walk, and didn't strike anyone out. Alex Brooks came on in relief getting the final out needed giving up a hit in the process.
 
Next Up
The Knights will try their luck against fourth ranked Oregon Tech tomorrow with games starting at 11am and 1pm.
