Knights Fall in First Two Games to Red Hawks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 21st, 2026

Milwaukie, Ore.| Warner Pacific Softball played their first two conference games all-time against Simpson University and lost both games with final scores of 7-0 and 3-1 amidst a beautiful day at Milwaukie High School.

Game One
The Knights in game one didn't fair too well, only producing two hits and two walks for a total of four base runners. The two hits were hit by Madelyn Lahey and Maillie Bode. Both hits for the Knights were of the infield hit variety. Lahey's was a bunt single to third base, and Bode's was a swinging bunt single also to the hot corner. The Red Hawks scored two runs in the first, two more in the third, and capped it off with three more in the seventh inning.

The Red Hawks lived on the base paths all game long, slamming 12 hits and drawing three walks. Simpson, as a team, only struck out twice. Simpson's starting pitcher was Jacquelyn Lujan who went the distance giving up just the two hits. Lujan's win-loss record is now 3-5.

Kili Makanani started in the circle for the Knights going six innings giving up seven runs in which six were earned. Makanani gave way to Alex Brooks who pitched the seventh inning giving up just a hit and no runs.

Game Two
The Knights in the second game of the day fared a little better than the first game. The Knights were able to earn six hits but unfortunately couldn't get them at the right time to drive in multiple runs. The lone run for the Knights was brought in by Brylee-Rose Demello who hit a ringing double into the gap in right centerfield scoring Madelyn Lahey. The Red Hawks matched the Knights with six hits of their own, but their knocks were more timely earning three runs to give them the win.

Madelyn Lahey led the way for the Knights with two hits. Mailli Bode, Jordyn Rosario, Brylee-Rose Demello, and Ashley Fritz each checked in with hits. Kaylee Pokorny got the ball in the circle and went the full seven innings giving up six hits and three runs in which all were earned. Pokorny struck out six hitters along the way. Grace Chojnacki got the ball for the Red Hawks in game two and gave up six hits and one run.

Next Up
The Knights are now 0-6 all-time against the Red Hawks and will look to get in the win column tomorrow. The games tomorrow will be at 10am and 12pm at Milwaukie High School.
