FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 18 th, 2026
Vancouver B.C.| Warner Pacific Softball finished their four game series against the University of British Columbia today and avoided the sweep splitting on the day. The Knights took game three 3-2 and UBC would answer winning game four 2-1.
Game Three
UBC started off this game scoring a run in the bottom of the first off of a single. Scoring would be quiet for both sides until the top of the fourth where the Knights would get on the board and take the lead on a three run RBI double hit by Kili Makanani. Finally in the bottom of the fifth, UBC would answer with a run and that would be all they could get in this one.
Offensively despite getting the win, the Knights would only get three hits but unlike yesterday, they would get them when they mattered. After loading up the bases in the fourth, Kili Makanani would deliver with a double, clearing the bases. On the mound, Makanani would get it done on both sides, throwing seven innings allowing one run, with six strikeouts, to get the win. Softball is definitely a team game but Makanani tried to change that narrative with today's output.
Game four
Scoring was late and few in this one with both sides holding up defensively until the end. The knights would get it started first in the top of fifth taking advantage of a miscue from the Thunderbirds to get their run in. In the top of the seventh, UBC would get the lead scoring two runs to walk-off the Knights.
On offense the Knights would only get four hits coming from different players. Skylar Groesbeck, Giselle Beriault, Rachel Behn, and finally Ashley Fritz. In the circle, Macey Tovar would pitch all the way until the end and would take the loss pitching 6.1 innings allowing two with two strikeouts.
Next Up
The Knights finish off their year at home this next weekend. They will host the sixth ranked Southern Oregon University Raiders in a four game series. Game one will be on Saturday at 11am at Milwaukie High School.
