Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific and College of Idaho deadlocked at 2-2 after 110 minutes of soccer at David Douglas High School today.
The result denied the host Knights (5-7-2, 4-4-2 CCC) a chance to move into playoff position, while the Yotes climbed off the bottom of the Cascade Conference table by improving to 1-9-3 overall and 1-7-1 in CCC play.
WPC remains in 5th place in the league standings with 14 points, two back of 4th place Corban University.
After a scoreless opening half, C of I struck first in the 55th minute. Ben Tjaden collected a long free kick from Yan Gioseffi and scored from close range. The Knights responded 13 minutes later as
Scott Schnitzer ranged up from his central defense area and headed home a corner kick.
Ricky Carmolinga put WP ahead in the 76th minute with the apparent game winner, taking a
Jameson Jones pass and beating Yote keeper Colin Benham-Marin to the far post. C of I had other plans however, as Luis Gomez leveled the score with a point blank put-back after an initial save from WP's
Drew Bonifacio.
Two overtime periods did not resolve the argument, and each squad had to settle for the single point.
Warner Pacific returns to action tomorrow afternoon hosting Oregon Tech at DDHS, while College of Idaho visits #17 ranked Concordia.
