Celebic Hat-Trick Leads Warner Pacific Over Oregon Tech

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific snapped a three game winless streak with a 6-0 victory over Oregon Tech today at a rainy David Douglas HS field.

Almir Celebic registered his first career hat-trick to lead the Knight offensive attack.

The result was a crucial three points for Warner Pacific (6-7-2, 5-4-2 CCC) that puts the Knights temporarily ahead of Corban into the final playoff spot in the Cascade Conference standings.

The visiting Owls (1-12-1, 1-9 CCC) started brightly under a steady rain and nearly scored first, but Brian Stinchcomb's sitter went just high. Alberto Casas got things going for WPC, striking from 12 yards out in the 16th minute and it was all Knights from there.

Celebic tallied his first goal in the 31st minute via penalty kick after Brandon Tatum was tripped in the box. The conversion from the spot made the score 2-0 in favor of WP at halftime.

Celebic earned his second goal in the 55th minute, dribbling through the box and firing past a diving OIT keeper. Six minutes later, Robert Brewer scored his first career goal for WP, cashing in from 10 yards away after a crossing pass from Ricky Carmolinga.

In the 84th minute, Jameson Jones scored his 5th goal of 2012 with a laser from 18 yards away. Celebic capped his hat-trick with a point blank header in the 86th minute, nodding home a long pass from Josh Wright.

Loren Jessen went all 90 minutes for OIT at goalkeeper, making 4 saves. Drew Bonifacio and Dorian Lair combined to earn the shutout for WPC.
