Knight Men Defeat Pacific (Ore.), 3-1

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – Alberto Casas made his home debut for Warner Pacific in grand style, scoring a pair of goals to lead the Knights to a 3-1 victory over Pacific University (Ore.) in a non-conference match-up at David Douglas High School tonight.

The sophomore was the danger man all game and tallied a goal in each half, the second one after a superb bit of skill at the top of the penalty area. In the 56th minute Brandon Tatum lifted a long free kick into the box, which Casas controlled with his chest before turning and firing to the left post.

Warner Pacific controlled much of the second period and seemed poised to tack on a third goal. Jorge Mandujano cut the WP lead in half at the 72:04 mark however, with a stunning 20 yard free kick from a tough angle that was perfectly placed in the top corner.

Any hope for the visiting Boxers to come back further was dashed just a few minutes later, as a Pacific defender put too much pace on a back pass that eluded goalkeeper Michael Summers and went in for an own goal.

Drew Bonifacio and Dorian Lair combined for the win at goalkeeper for Warner Pacific (1-2), as each played 45 minutes between the pipes. Summers went all 90 minutes for Pacific (0-1), making one save on the night.
