WPC Shutout by #17 Concordia - Irvine

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of NAIA #17 Concordia – Irvine today at David Douglas HS in a non-conference matchup.

CUI scored first in the 26th minute, as Christian Ramirez linked up with William Prado to finish from close range. The host Knights held firm the rest of the period first despite 14 shots at goal from the Eagles and seemed content to regroup at half after generating a few chances at goal of their own. The lapse in concentration proved costly, as Joel Palomeres headed home a ball for the Eagles at the back post with just two second remaining.

Though Concordia could muster only a single goal by Jordan Long in the second half, the run of play belonged to the Eagles and Knight keeper Dorian Lair got plenty of work while minding his net. CUI outshot Warner Pacific 22-6 for the game and amassed 11 corner kicks compared to three for the Knights. Concordia improves 4-1-1 this season, while Warner Pacific falls to 1-3-0.
