Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Warner Pacific men's soccer team fell by the score of 3-2 in overtime at Pacific University in non-conference action on Friday night at Lincoln Park Stadium. The contest was the season opener for both teams.
Lucas Sconyers scored the game-winning goal for the Boxers in the 4th minute of extra time, tucking the ball in the net after a corner kick inside a crowded box to win the game on a golden goal.
Warner Pacific opened the scoring at the 58-minute mark. Almir Celebic crossed a pass to Jameson Jones, who one timed a shot from five yards out.
The Boxers tied the game at the 75-minute mark when Nick Pinto played a long ball to Ian Farley who shot uncontested from 10-yards out. Less than four minutes later, Farley again received the ball in the box from Nick Calkins to head in the go-ahead-goal.
The Knights brought themselves back into the game with less than 10 minutes to go. Daniel Ervin scored his first career goal by heading a ball past Boxer goalkeeper Michael Summers.
Summers (1-0) collected the win between the pipes. He tallied five saves in 95 minutes. Dorian Lair (0-1) took the loss for the Knights, collecting two saves. Farley recorded five shots, the most on the squad with two shots on goal.
The Knights will be back in action on September 7 with a trip to Trinity Lutheran.
