Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban used three second half goals to defeat Warner Pacific in Cascade Conference soccer action tonight and remain unbeaten for the 2013 season.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie after the first 45 minutes, with visiting Corban (5-0, 2-0 CCC) controlling much of the action. The Warriors attempted nine shots, but Knight goalkeeper
Dorian Lair made three saves to keep the WP in the game.
The Warriors broke through in the 59th minute as Tim Kagey lofted a free kick from 40 yards away that found the head James Williamson, who tucked the ball in to the top left corner.
Warner Pacific (1-3, 0-2 CCC) pressed forward for the rest of the game, and nearly equalized off the foot of
Evgeny Potanin. The defender's shot from 10 yards missed inches right however and the Corban defense smothered out all other Knight attacks.
Corban tacked on two more goals in the late going, as the Warriors made WP pay for sending most all players forward. Bobby Hutchin and Josh Hamilton each scored on breakaways just 40 seconds apart.
The Warriors finished with a 17-5 shot advantage, and three corner kicks to one for the Knights.
