Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - The No. 24-ranked Concordia men's basketball team shot a torrid 65.5 percent from the floor as the Cavaliers defeated Warner Pacific 97-72 in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball action on Saturday night.
With the win, the team's ninth straight, Concordia improved to 18-4 on the season and 7-3 in league games. Warner Pacific saw their own five game winning streak ended, and fell to 12-10 overall and 6-4 in CCC contests. The result also represented CU head coach Brad Barbaricks's 300th career victory and the first win against the Knights since Jan. 9, 2009, breaking a 10-game losing streak against WPC.
Concordia owned the first period and built a 47-27 lead by the halftime break. The Knights could not keep pace thanks to a pedestrian shooting effort of 35 percent during the first 20 minutes.
The second half was better for WPC on the offensive end, but the Cavaliers continued to score in bunches. Early in the half, Warner Pacific brought the deficit to a second-half low of 17 points off a jumper by
Doug Thomas, but Willy Ligon retaliated with on of his four 3-pointers on the night to quell the comeback.
Â
Ryan Parks led Warner Pacific with 16 points, but made just 6 of 16 shots from the floor.
Doug Thomas added 14 points.
Adam Herman, the preseason CCC Player of the Year, shot 8 of 9 from the floor and scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Cavaliers.
COMING UP: The Knights will try to keep pace in the CCC standings at Eastern Oregon on Friday, January 31.
