PORTLAND, Ore.,- Mario Guizar found the back of the net twice including the game winner with 2:17 left in the first overtime to lead Warner Pacific to a 2-1 victory over Northwest Christian tonight.,

The Basics

 Score: Warner Pacific 2, Northwest Christian 1
 Records: WPC (2-1-2, 1-0 CCC), NCU (1-2-1, 0-1 CCC)
 Location: Strasser Field, Portland, Ore.
 The Short Story: Mario Guizar headed in the golden goal in the waning moments of the first overtime to send Warner Pacific to a 2-1 win over Northwest Christian. It was the Cascade Conference opener for both teams.

How it Happened

After trading shots in the opening minutes of the game, Guizar fired home from 10 yards in the 10th minute. Edgar Contreras was credited with the assist.
• NCU answered back just one minute later by way of a penalty kick. Sergio Maldanado made a deep run into the box and was fouled, then finished the work from the spot.
• The host Knights made several promising attacks during the remainder of the first period, but Beacon keeper Bren Bletscher made three saves to keep the score tied.
WP continued to press the issue in the second half outshooting the visitors 8-2, but the NCU defense held firm.
The Beacons nearly nicked a goal toward the end of regulation, but Steve Jusko's glancing header went inches wide left.
• On the winning goal, center defender Jack Andrade made a probing run forward, then chipped a perfect pass to Guizar who made no mistake on his header into the corner of the goal.
