PORTLAND, Ore. - The WPU cross country team enjoyed a tremendous fall day of racing at the Warner Pacific XC Classic held at Lents Park in Portland.
The bulk of the event was dedicated to over 70 high school teams with 12Â races at bronze, sliver and gold levels. But the day started with an 8k men's race, followed by a 5k women's race for several college teams in attendance.
The Knight men entered a full scoring team for the first time this season, placing 10th of 11 teams.
Pete Frazee (27:39.20, 51st),
Cameron Wisely (27:55.10, 60th), and
Taylor Waters (29:34.50, 85th) all posted personal best times.
Jackson Cootey and
Maitland Akau -sprinters from the WP track team - also ran for the Knights to make a full scoring group.
The dynamic duo of
Martina Avendano (20:36.20, 37th) and Lindsay Mackenzie (22:04.50, 56th) also registered personal best times.
"It was a really great event and good exposure for our program as we finish out this season and build for the future," said coach
Randy Dalzell. "We will enter full teams at the CCC Championship in a few weeks."
