Portland, Ore.| Warner Pacific University Interim Director of Athletics
Matt Gregg, announced earlier today, August 4
th, the hiring of
Justan Wolvert as head coach of the WPU women's soccer team.
"We are excited to welcome Justan to the Warner Pac! His energy has been contagious from his first step on campus. I am looking forward to that energy translating to the young ladies that are going to crush it this year with Justan's leadership," said Gregg.
Wolvert said "I'm humbled and appreciative to have this opportunity to be the Head Women's Soccer coach at Warner Pacific University."
Wolvert brings a history of success with him to Warner Pacific. He served as the Head Coach for the girls' soccer team at Oregon Episcopal School for seven years, where he was named Coach of the Year twice and led the team to four state championships. Wolvert also has experience as the Competitive Academy Director for United PDX where he was responsible for the oversight of the U11-U19 teams.
Wolvert's name will sound familiar to those who keep up on all-time stat records for the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Wolvert played for Concordia University, where in 2002 he set the CCC record for most assists in a season with 19. He is also third all-time in the CCC for career assists with 38. With the records set, it should come as no surprise that Wolvert was a 2-time All-American, 2-Time All-Regional First Team selection, and 3-Time All-Conference selection during his playing days.
Now as Head Coach at Warner, Wolvert will look to turn the fortunes of the women's soccer team around. Last year, the Knights finished 9
th overall in the conference with a 4-11 record.
"I couldn't be more excited to help get this program back to a level of prominence within the Cascade Collegiate Conference. We have a solid group of returning players who are excited and ready to get to work. I can't wait to get on the field to see what they can do," said Wolvert.
Coach Wolvert and the women's soccer team will open their season at home on Aug. 20
th against Arizona Christian University.
