Warner Pacific Bounces Back Against Linfield

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 26th, 2023

McMinnville, OR. | The Warner Pacific Men's Soccer team played their second game of the season last night in McMinnville against Linfield University. The Knights won the game 5-0.

The Knights were led in scoring by Bryce McCole who knocked in two goals. He scored the lone goal in the first game of the season against St. Martins so in just two games, his goal total is already up to three. That is a great start for the junior transfer from Rogue Community College. It has to feel good to him to come to a new team and prove himself right away to his new teammates. McCole also picked up an assist on the day as well.

The other goals on the day were scored by Chanin Orlandin, Jose Robles, and Antonio Cipriano-Ojendiz. In total, the Knights were busy around the goal offensively putting up 17 shots which 13 of those were shots on goal.

Head Coach, Troy Ready, is proud of his team for fighting back after a tough first result to the season. "Tonight, showed more of our true colors and who we are as a team and program," Ready said. "I am proud of the growth in the group as we are using each training session and match opportunity to further shape the trajectory of our season.

Josepher Juarez-Cruz started in goal for the first time this season taking the place of Jose Ochoa-Delgado and played very well pitching the shutout. Josepher had good defense around him so there was only one shot on goal to deal with, but he dealt with it well and didn't allow anything in the back of the net.
"We are growing in discipline defensively, creating consistent scoring chances, and moving towards deeper unity and trust," Ready said. "We will continue to build on this result as we move closer to conference play."
