The Knights Take the Fight to the Pioneers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 28th, 2023

Portland, OR. | The Warner Pacific Men's Soccer squad bested the Pioneers this evening by a final score of 4-1 at Griswold Stadium.

The Pioneers struck first scoring in the 15th minute on a goal by Ben Schwartz. That was the last of the Pioneers offense as the Knights clamped down on defense and scored four unanswered goals. The first goal of the day was from Bryce McCole for his fourth goal of the season in the 31st minute. Spoiler alert, McCole was not done. The second goal of the day was scored by Pedro Calderon for his first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Omar Seoudy.

The third goal of the day was done by none other than the before mentioned, Bryce McCole. He knocked in his fifth goal of the season in the 62nd minute assisted by Omar Seoudy who picked up his second assist of the game. McCole is on an impressive run getting two goals in each of the last two games.

The final goal of the game was done once again by Pedro Calderon for his second goal of the game and the season. The goal was assisted by Bryce McCole for his second assist of the young season.

Coach Troy Ready is proud of the progress the team is already making in the young season. "I'm proud of the response our team made after conceding a goal on the oppositions only shot of the game," Ready said. "We didn't panic, stayed true to our identity, and the goal's started coming. We now have a few more days to prepare for our final non-conference match against a team from Arizona."

The Knights as a whole were busy putting 17 shots on goal. The Knights were also very impressive defensively not letting the Pioneers get many good looks at the net. The Pioneers only had one shot on goal the entire game.
