Bryce McCole Scores 3 Goals in Route to a 5-0 Victory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 2nd, 2023

Portland, OR. | The Warner Pacific Men's Soccer squad took it to the Park University Buccaneers on a hot 85-degree day out at Eastside Timbers Complex.

The knights won this one by a result of 5-0 behind the excellent play once again from junior, Bryce McCole, who scored three beauties on the day. McCole has scored in every game so far. In fact, his only game where he didn't score more than one goal, was the first game against St. Martins. Against Linfield he scored two and then followed that up with two more against Lewis & Clark. For the season, he now has eight goals. McCole will make his first appearance on the Warner S-Pacific Podcast next week and will be available for listening on Wednesday, September 6th.

The first goal of the game for the Knights was scored by Luke Wagener for his first goal of the season with the assist going to Bryce McCole. The final goal of the game was by Hunter Leach assisted by Luke Wagener.

Josepher Juarez-Cruz got his second start of the year in goal for the Knights and he stood completely on his head giving up nothing. His job was made fairly easy by the stellar Knights team defense hardly letting the Buccaneers get any shots off. Still Josepher had a great game making two saves and going to 2-0 on the year.

The Knights kept Buccaneers goalie, Zac Stephenson, extremely busy keeping the ball on the offensive side more often than not and peppering the goal with shots. The Knights shot 22 shots including 15 on goal scoring 5. The Buccaneers only had two shots on the day which both of them were on goal.

The Knights will move to 3-1 winning three in a row now finishing out non-conference play very strong. "I'm proud of the way we concluded our non-conference schedule," Knights Head Coach, Troy Ready said. "15 goals for and 3 against is the type of team we aspire to be. We will now get our group healthy and ready for the conference demands."

Next Up
The Knights will have over a week off as they get ready for conference play and won't play again until September 15th when they take on Southern Oregon University at 12pm.
