PORTLAND, OR | The Warner Pacific men's soccer team fell to Oregon Tech today by a final score of 1-0 on a hot day at Eastside Timbers Complex.
The game was an intense one with a lot of physical play. The refs let the boys play though as there was only one card awarded and not too many fouls called on both sides. The only goal of the game came for the Owls in the 49
th minute by Brock Rideout on a penalty kick.
The Knights definitely had their chances on the day shooting 22 shots but only 6 were on goal and the Owls goalkeeper, Ryan Solis, saved all of them.
"I was extremely proud of our response today and overall, in the way we played," Head Coach,
Troy Ready said. "We were the better team, creating far more chances on goal but weren't good enough in the final product to earn the goals we needed to ensure a win. Unfortunately, in soccer, it only takes one chance that the opponent converts to determine the final outcome. The guys will have a few days to recover before we re-engage for another set of matches on the road."
Knights goalkeeper,
Josepher Juarez-Cruz, had a solid game stopping 6 out of the 7 total shots taken from the Owls.
Next Up
The Knights will go out on the road to Helena, Montana to take on the Fighting Saints of Carroll College on Friday, September 22
nd at 1pm at Nelson Stadium.
