Portland, Ore.|Â The Knights baseball program had their first two games of the season against Lewis & Clark College today in the form of a non-conference double header. The Knights split the games losing the first 4-3, but winning their second 7-3.Â
Game One
The Knights first game of the season was hard fought with Lewis & Clark finding victory off of two home runs. As a team, the Knights played clean baseball defensively. Junior
Giovanny Alvillar threw out two runners stealing to keep Lewis & Clark's run game down.Â
Individually, Junior Ayden Yager got the nod in game one and threw well, along with Junior
Connor Hale coming in for relief. At the plate, the Knights were led by Junior
Collin Schiller who had the Knights first hit of the new program's history.Â
Game Two
The second game, which marked the Knights first win of the season, was thanks to a stellar pitching performance by super Senior
Josiah Nickel. Nickel went 6 innings 4 of which were scoreless. To match the pitching success, the Knights were able to turn to the bullpen and rely on Junior Kaden Hindmen, and Freshman
Brady Windham who got the first win of his college career.Â
On the defensive end, the Knights were able to rely on success from Junior third baseman Trent Lowe who was perfect in the field. They also found promise in the defensive style of Freshman
Sergio Osoria who was a wall behind the plate in the final few innings of play.Â
Next up
The Knights next games will be a four game series against Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington on February 15th and 16th. The games on Saturday are set to start at 12pm and 3pm, with the games on Sunday set for the same.
