Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - On the night when Warner Pacific honored their two seniors, Oregon Tech spoiled the festivities with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-21) win over the Knights at C.C. Perry Gym.
WPC recognized the senior duo of
Loren Hernandez and
Kristina Naff before the match, and hoped to end the season on a positive note versus the visiting Owls.
Oregon Tech (15-7, 8-10 CCC) came out firing to set the tone, taking a 6-1 lead in set one and never trailing. WPC tried to make it close and drew within 12-16 after an OIT service error, but the Owls closed out the set with a 9-3 run.
Warner Pacific (4-23, 1-17 CCC) scored the first four points of set two, three of which came from service aces by
Nicole Lisoski. The Owls quickly righted the ship and reeled off six straight points of their own, then methodically pulled away and claimed the set 25-16.Â
The Knights started quickly again in set three in an attempt to prolong the match. A pair of kills from
Julia Toscano and a kill from Naff gave WP a 3-0 advantage. Later in the frame the Knights enjoyed an 18-14 lead but OIT scored five in a row to leap ahead, then finished off the victory with another 5-0 burst.Â
OIT ended with 48 kills as a team versus just six errors. Kelsey Sampson led the way with 11 kills, while Marlee Smith swung for 10. The Owl duo of Mykala Rubey and Madisen Garley gave the Knights trouble all match as they combined for six stuffs at the net. The Owls controlled play at the net with 18 total blocks.
Warner Pacific was led by
Julia Toscano with a match high 13 kills. Hernandez contributed a season high five kills in her final game.
Marchelle Bostic touched up 29 assists, which moved her in to the #1 spot in career assists at Warner Pacific. The junior has 1472 assists, just ahead of former record holder Rebekah Patton at 1470. Â Â
