GULF SHORES, ALA. | Both Warner Pacific University track and field athletes, triple jumper
Brittany Coleman and 800m runner
Indya Price, failed to advance to the finals in their respective events, bringing their season to an end Thursday evening.
Â
Price finished 17
th overall in the women's 800m with a time of 2:17.07. She needed to run 2:13.19 or faster to advance to the final.
Â
"Indya was a little nervous at her first national meet and went out a bit too fast, leading her heat for the first 300m. Had the whole pack gotten out that fast and she would have been tucked in to a nice pack, that would have worked out OK, but to be leading was not ideal. Still, she has improved seven seconds over the season and set a new school record at 2:14.87, so she has some nice things to take away from her sophomore season and she gained some valuable experience about running rounds at a national meet," said Head Coach
Randy Dalzell.
Â
Senior triple jumper
Brittany Coleman jumped 11.68m (38' 4") in her preliminary round jumps, but needed to jump 11.97m (39' 3.25") to get into the finals.
Â
"Brittany has had a great two seasons at WPU, winning two outdoor conference meets, setting the conference record, and getting two All-American awards overall, so she can be very proud of her body of work. She just came up a little short today in a very good field," said Dalzell.
