Warner Pacific Wins Four Events, DeLeon Sets New School Record at Linfield Invitational

McMinnville, Ore. | WPU had a strong showing in their first local outdoor track & field meet of the season at Linfield's Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational, winning four events, setting a new school record, and obtaining their second national qualifying mark. "It was a beautiful day for our first full outdoor track meet, and we came away with some great marks, as well as winning a number of events," said Head Track & Field Coach Randy Dalzell.

 The Rundown
Kynzie DeLeon set a new school record while winning the women's 5000m run with a time of 18:37.60, passing the former record of 19:11.80 set by Ellen Murray in 2006. Brittany Coleman started the meet by winning the women's long jump, her first time competing in the event, with a mark of 5.07m (16'7.75") before also taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.39m (37'4.5"). Indya Price brought home Warner Pacific's fourth first-place finish of the day, winning the women's 800m run in 2:23.34.

In his first meet as a Knight, Angelo Flores took second in the men's javelin throw with a mark of 55.11m (180'10"). While Flores was not taking full approaches at this meet, this mark already passes the provisional national qualifier. Flores sits at 11th in the nation after today to start off the season.

"It was great to get Angelo started today, but we purposefully had him take short approaches and not throw 100% as he eases into his competitive season," said Coach Dalzell.

Jett Pharn-Cromb took second in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.63 and took fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.36m (20'10.5"). Savannah Proske placed second in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.60m (5'3"). Carlos Nelson had a new season's best in the men's javelin with a throw of 50.34m (165'2") and took second in the high jump at 1.71m (5'7.25").
