LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team used a solid second half performance to beat Warner Pacific at home, 75-51.
The Mountaineers (21-7, 12-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) clinched a home postseason game for the eighth time in the past nine years. Eastern's Kyle Miller led all scorers with a season-high 20 points. The senior was 7-of-9 from the field, including 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. She matched her season-high assist total as well with six assists.
Korrie Bourn recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Dominique Johnson recorded 11 points, while Kelsea Hurliman had 10 points. The Mountaineers shot 49 percent from the field, 8-of-18 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Eastern had a 37-28 rebound advantage. EOU threw 22 assists, while Warner Pacific had nine. Eastern Oregon committed 13 assists and forced 17 WPC turnovers.
The game featured four ties and four lead changes, all in the first half. The Knights led by as many as five points, with the latest coming at the 8:07 mark of the first half. EOU had a 36-29 halftime lead. The final margin was Eastern's largest lead. Warner Pacific (19-9, 13-4) was 34 percent from field, 3-of-11 from three-point range, and 18-for-23 from the free throw line.
Cameryn Calhoun led WPC with 13 points, while Katie Smith added 11 points. Calhoun made nine of her 10 free-throw attempts. Smith had six rebounds and Calhoun threw four assists. Eastern Oregon snapped the Knights' eight-game win streak with the win. The Mountaineers completed the regular season sweep over WPC.
The Mountaineers welcome Concordia (8-20, 4-13) Saturday in the final regular season game of the season. The Knights travel to No. 23 College of Idaho (18-8, 13-4) Saturday for their next game. Both games tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
