SALEM, Ore. - Corban ran out to a 12 point halftime lead on their way to a 76-62 victory over Warner Pacific tonight at C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
The Knights managed to shoot just 35 percent in the first half and were only slightly better in the second, finishing the game 21 for 55 from the field.
WP did rally in the early in the second period, cutting the Warrior lead down to a single point on two occasions.
Chelsey Christensen scored eight straight points for the Knights to make the score 39-38 with 14:35 to play. Later, a pair of free throws by Christensen gave the Knights their only lead of the half (44-43) at the 11:55 mark.
Corban slowly pulled away from there however, helped by back-to-back three pointers from Megan Benedict and led by as many as 16 before settling for the 14 point win.
Despite the loss, the Knights clinched at least a 4th place finish in the CCC standings and will host a first round playoff game at
Bart Valentine Court.
Christensen led WPC with 24 points on 7 of 17 shooting, while Carroll added 20 points and eight rebounds. With an assist on a Christensen bucket in the first half,
Nichole Jackson became the all-time career leader in that category at Warner Pacific. The senior finished the game with eight assists, giving her 364 for her career and surpassing
Cameryn Calhoun (357).
Four Warriors scored in double figures led by sophomore Tara Vanweerhuizen with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
