Beacons Knock Off Warner Pacific

Box Score EUGENE, Ore. - Despite a career best 21 points from Ali Campbell, Warner Pacific fell at Northwest Christian tonight at the Morse Center, 77-68.

Campbell scored 14 of her total in the first half, as the Knights (5-13, 1-6 CCC) trailed by just three points (40-37) at the break. WPC enjoyed one of their best halves of the year shooting the ball, hitting 15 of 32 attempts for 47 percent. The host Beacons (5-10, 2-5 CCC) matched WP shot for shot however, connecting on 50 percent of their attempts at their end of the floor (15 of 30).

Northwest Christian continued to score the ball efficiently in the second period and finished the game at 49 percent from the floor, while the Knights dipped slightly to 41 percent. Meanwhile, the turnovers began to mount for both teams as Warner Pacific ended with 25 for the game compared to 24 miscues for NCU.

The Beacons slowly pulled away as the second period wore on, and built their largest lead of 10 (61-51) with 8:37 showing on the clock. WPC fought back and cut the deficit to a single basket (66-64) after Jessica Thoens hit a pair of free throws with 2:20 remaining. NCU managed to put the game away down the stretch by sinking 6 of 8 tries from the free throw line and forcing the Knights into three turnovers.

Campbell added a team-high seven rebounds to her point total, while Thoens, Lacy Wood, and Jacki Cannon had nine points apiece in the losing effort.

Andrea Gloss Gloss tossed in a career-high 26 points for Northwest Christian, shooting 11-for-13 from the field.

The NCU victory was their first over Warner Pacific since 2008, a streak that lasted ten games.
