Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - In a physical contest where 50 fouls were committed, Warner Pacific dropped a close game at home tonight to Northwest University, 67-61, at Bart Valentine Court.

The result sends the Knights (5-14, 1-7 CCC) to their fourth straight loss and searching for a way to climb into playoff contention. The Eagles to improve to 12-8 overall and 4-4 in CCC contests.

Warner Pacific started the game with a sense of purpose and jumped out to 10 point advantage (19-9) in the early going thanks in part to a stingy defense. The WP shooters went cold at that point, and Northwest recovered enough to take a 27-25 lead at halftime.

Both teams continued to clamp down with defense in the second period, but the visiting Eagles found enough scoring to maintain a small lead due in large part to the shooting of Domi Mendezona who made five three pointers in the game.

WPC tied the ball game at 46-46 on an Ali Campbell score in the paint with nine minutes to play, but could never push to a lead. Lacy Wood found room inside for the Knights, with her basket at the 2:07 mark cutting the NU lead to a single point (62-61). WP did not score the rest of the way however, and the Eagles closed out the game with a clutch layup from Mendezona and a trio of makes from the free throw line.

Janelle Weiss hit 3 of 6 tries from behind the arc and finished with 13 points to lead Warner Pacific. Jordan Wilcox added 12 points, while Jessica Thoens swiped a career high seven steals.

Northwest was led by the game high total of 27 points of Domi Mendezona, while Jordan Asher contributed 10 points.

COMING UP: Warner Pacific will host Evergreen tomorrow night at 5:30 pm in an effort to break back into the win column.
